A Beginner Fly Tying Class is held every January or February for those who want to learn to tie their own flies. Classes are typically held on three consecutive mornings and last for three hours or longer, and HCFF supplies all tools and materials for the students. Each class begins with an HCFF instructor demonstrating proper fly-tying skills and techniques and then the students practice by tying two or three flies they can actually use on the water. An experienced HCFF fly tyer is paired with each student during the class for guidance and students can also take the tools home to practice between classes.
